DropBell tells you when the price of an Amazon product you're tracking goes down. This policy explains what the app collects and what happens to it. It is deliberately short, because DropBell collects very little.
DropBell is made by Anderson Sales, an individual developer based in Portugal. He is the data controller for everything described here. For anything in this policy, contact legal@dropbell.app.
DropBell has no sign-up, no login, no email address and no password. When you first open the app it creates a random identifier on your device. That identifier is how the app knows which product list is yours. It is not derived from anything about you or your phone, and it is not linked to your name, your Amazon account or any other service.
You can see your identifier at the bottom of your product list. You'll need it if you ever ask us to delete your data.
| What | Why | Our legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| The random device identifier described above | To know which tracked products are yours | Necessary to provide the service you asked for |
| A push notification token from Google | To send price alerts to your phone | Necessary to provide the service you asked for |
| The Amazon product links you add, and the prices we check for them | To track prices and decide when to alert you | Necessary to provide the service you asked for |
| Whether an alert was delivered and whether you opened it | To detect when alerts silently stop working | Our legitimate interest in the app actually working |
| A record of an addition that failed, including the link you pasted | So a fault can be reproduced and fixed, and so we can answer you if you report one | Our legitimate interest in diagnosing faults |
| Ordinary technical request data, including your IP address | Handled by our hosting provider to serve requests and block abuse | Our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and secure |
No name, email address, phone number, postal address or payment details. No location. No contacts, photos, files or messages. No browsing activity outside the app. DropBell has no access to your Amazon account and never sees your orders, your cart or your purchases.
DropBell relies on a small number of service providers. They process data on our behalf and for no other purpose:
We will tell you exactly who these are if you ask — email us at the address above. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising. There is no advertising in DropBell.
Our analytics provider processes data in the European Economic Area.
Some of the providers above are based outside the EEA and the United Kingdom, or may process data there. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the contractual protections those providers offer for international transfers — the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, for the UK, the addendum that extends them. You can ask us for details of any specific transfer.
Your tracked products are kept until you delete them or ask us to remove your data.
Diagnostic records — failed additions, and records of alert delivery — are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically.
Two things are kept outside that 90 days. Our analytics provider holds its own record of alert delivery under its retention policy, not ours. And if your phone stops accepting notifications, we keep the dead token so we do not keep trying to send to it.
Price history for a product is not personal — it is the same for everyone tracking that product — and is kept.
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes your identifier from your phone. That means the app forgets your list, but the records on our side remain until you ask us to delete them — so if that is what you want, contact us before you uninstall, while you can still read your identifier.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict how we use it, to object to our using it where we rely on a legitimate interest, and to receive it in a portable form.
To exercise any of these, email legal@dropbell.app and include the identifier shown at the bottom of your product list. Because there is no account, that identifier is the only way to find your data — without it we cannot tell your records from anyone else's.
We will respond within 15 days.
When you ask us to delete your data, we remove every record held in our own database. Our analytics provider holds a separate record that an alert was delivered, identified by your device identifier, and we are not able to delete that record. It is removed when that provider's own retention period expires.
Tell us first, at legal@dropbell.app. We will acknowledge your complaint and tell you the outcome.
You can also complain to a data protection authority in the country where you live.
DropBell decides automatically when a price movement is worth an alert. That is a decision about a price, not about you, and it has no legal or similarly significant effect on you.
DropBell is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what is collected or who receives it, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
